The Adventures of Huckleberry Pup (Vol. 2)

pads pupSince last month, Huck has evolved into a Facebook sensation. Feel free to visit and Like Huck’s page to keep up with the progress of this precocious pup. There were a variety of developments with our PADs puppy since last month, including:

Potty Training Coming Along Nicely

One of the biggest hurdles trainers have had with Huck is getting him acclimated to doing his business outdoors. It seems like every day, Huck is making more progress towards becoming potty trained. He even stopped during his breakfast to go outside. In the next few weeks, we expect that Huckleberry will be fully potty-trained, which is great news with this pup!

Sitting and Waiting

sittingAnother important part of Huck’s training is being able to sit and wait for both instructions and food. This is one of the hardest things for most puppies to get used to due to their immaturity and lack of understanding regarding commands. While there have been a few hiccups along the way, for the most part, this pup is coming along well.

Regular Baths

Like most dogs, Huck is not particularly fond of getting a bath. Truth be told, he prefers the water in the lake to getting an actual bath. His trainer has been working with him on patiently waiting in the tub until is time for him to get out. Although this has not been an easy command, Huck is now waiting for a few minutes in the tub after his bath. Though sometimes his curiosity still gets the better of him and he will try to jump over the side of the tub. Huck’s favorite part of bath time is getting scrubbed. When getting his nails clipped, Huck is a trooper and stands perfectly still for his handlers.

Becoming a Pro at Fetching

Playing fetch seems to be one of Huck’s favorite activities. When trainers first started teaching Huck to fetch, he had a hard time bringing back the “bird.” Recently, Huck has improved a great deal at responding to the fetch command and returning without incident.

Huck is learning more and more every day. The team at Integrand is excited about his progress and can see that he is going to make an excellent service pup.  Please consider supporting Huck’s service dog training by DONATING TODAY.
